All About Humming Bird Feeders

Unlike many of the birds you may try to attract with feeders in your garden the hummingbird is not one to share. They are one bird that is protective of its own territory and will not readily share a food source with other hummingbirds. That means if this is the bird you want to attract you will need to put several humming bird feeders around your garden. Hummingbirds are very accepting of where their feeders are located so you can put them in many locations. They can be outside a window of a home or office or on an apartment’s balcony. These places are as comfortable for the birds as if they are hanging from a tree branch. The thing you need to be sure of is whether the area you live in is one that hummingbirds travel through on their yearly migrations.

Horse Lameness, How It Creeps Up On You

Your horse comes up lame, he limps, bobs his head, is obviously in pain, won’t run and all you can do is wonder just how serious will this be, will we ever ride again. Not your best case scenario.

Maybe the horse put its foot in a hole, maybe it just tripped, but many times lameness creeps in over time as a result of incorrect horseshoeing practices. Your horse’s foot is not balanced, the hoof wall is not level, the heels have been left too short, and too much toe on the foot stretches the tendons. Maybe the horse has pigeon toes that have been left untreated. All of the above over time can lead to lameness and permanent lameness.

Home-made Dog Food - Make High Quality Dog-food At Home - Part 2

According to Donald R. Strombeck (DVM, PhD.) in the book, Dog and Cat Diets; The Healthful Alternative - most commercial foods wrongly contain carbohydrates as their PRIMARY energy source.

He also says that while dogs can digest some carbohydrates, an estimated 20% pass through undigested.

The excessive levels of carbohydrates in some commercial foods are there mainly to add bulk, and since they are not entirely digested are just wasted space in the can or bag!

The beauty in homemade dog food is that you control the amount of carbohydrates and can vary it according to your individual dogs needs!

Care Of Foals

Its so exciting isn’t it having a new foal around. I just love them, they are so gorgeous to look at and so vulnerable, that I find them completely adorable! OK, so that’s enough of my sensitive side, lets get on with some content.

First off lets say that the foal has been born healthy – it’s the care of the foal and therefore its mother, in its first few weeks that I’m going to cover here (I may later cover the period immediately after the birth and how you check that the baby is healthy, but I will have to do some more research for that).

What Is The Right Substrate To Use For A Bearded Dragon

Bearded Dragons Substrates

The substrate (sometimes called flooring) is the material used to line your dragon’s housing. In their native environment, Beardies live in sandy desert areas. Playground sand is often used because it is relatively dust free and easy to maintain, although there have been reports of intestinal impaction. Substrates can also include wheat bran (pest free and rated for human consumption), outdoor carpeting, non-stick padded shelf liner, and paper towels. Other good substrates are newspaper, pea rock or aquarium gravel.
