Is Faith Important To Your Business?
A year ago if you would have asked me, “Stuart is faith important in your life and does it play an important role in your business life and how you do things?” I would have told you to go fly a kite. It was all about me back then, no real need to call upon any spiritual. How things have changed in one short year. Faith is now a centerpiece of my life, much more work needs to be done and I grow a little bit every day, but I am on the road to determining the rest of my life and growth in accordance to my faith, with the thanks of some great role models in the business.
My faith plays a critical role in my decision making process, I have decided to put the trust in my supreme spiritual leader to assist me by shining the light in the direction that his power wants me to travel. My faith also allows me to make the right decision in a timely fashion, not to be confused with the easiest decision. Call your supreme spiritual being in life whatever you like, all I am writing about is if you have found one to guide into your future and to what effect do that have in your daily life. Business owners today need to find a spiritual leader that they can put their complete trust in.
What does this mean to me, the small business owner? Having a spiritual connection provides me with guidance, a sense of belonging which now brings the right people into my life (critically important for success, have the right likeminded people around you) and works wonders in difficult situations, allowing me to focus instead of tempers or temptation getting the upper hand. When I am confused about what direction to take, I often seek the comforts of a spiritual connection to provide me with the answers that I am in search of. In all aspects of my business life, if it an issue with a difficult employee causing challenges at the office, a client disputing an order or if I am venturing into a new business partnership. I now let my spiritual comforts play an important role in this decision making process and I am more successful in my thought patterns and abilities to reach the right decision.
One of the downsides of our culture today is that religion is often seen as a taboo, something not to be mentioned inside our schools, workplaces or government offices. Christmas parties have been renamed to holiday parties, employees are given a hard time when certain important religious holidays appear and if they would like to observe them are criticized by their peers for taking time away to observe their beliefs. Why? Has the North American culture stooped this low to remove any spiritual observances from our day to day lives?
I am fortunate to have some great friends in areas of the world where religious beliefs and views continue to play an important role in their day to day lives, while in some areas of the world we are recommended by our Human Resource departments not to bring up our religious views in the business because we may offend someone. I have many friends of different faiths and they are not offended by other people’s observances, all they ask is to be treated in the same manner.
What role does your spiritual leader play in your life? Do you seek guidance in difficult situations? Do you turn to them in your time of need? Faith needs to play an important role in your business life. When you find peace through a spiritual connection, you can truly begin to relax, focus and succeed in life.
Let your spiritual leader become that guiding light in your life, don’t fight it, just let it happen. Give them control of the steering wheel and allow them to take control of your spiritual life.
